1. Overview

Meta Extra Viajes acts as an authorized travel agency and intermediary between customers and airlines. As such, refund eligibility, amounts, and timelines are primarily governed by the airline's fare rules for your specific ticket. Our agency processes refund requests on your behalf but cannot guarantee refund amounts beyond what the airline approves.

2. 24-Hour Cancellation Rule (U.S. DOT)

In accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations:

• If your flight was booked at least 7 days before departure, you may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund — regardless of the fare type.
• This rule applies to flights originating in or destined for the United States.
• To exercise this right, you must call us immediately within 24 hours of your booking confirmation.

3. Refundable Tickets

If you purchased a fully refundable fare:

• You are eligible for a full refund of the base fare and taxes, minus our agency service fee.
• Refund requests must be submitted by calling (855) 762-3684 prior to your scheduled departure date.
• No-shows (failing to board without prior cancellation) on refundable tickets may result in forfeiture of refund eligibility — please contact us as early as possible.
• Refunds are typically processed within 7–20 business days to your original payment method, depending on your card issuer.

4. Non-Refundable Tickets

Non-refundable tickets do not qualify for cash refunds. However:

• Many airlines offer future travel credits or vouchers for the value of cancelled non-refundable tickets (minus cancellation fees), valid for 12–24 months depending on the carrier.
• Taxes and government-imposed fees on non-refundable tickets may still be refundable in some cases — our agents will advise you based on your specific ticket.
• Our agency service fee is non-refundable for non-refundable ticket cancellations.

5. Cancellation Fees

Cancellations may incur the following fees, depending on your ticket type and timing:

• Airline Cancellation Fee: Charged directly by the airline per their fare rules (typically $0–$400+ depending on airline and route).
• Agency Service Fee: Meta Extra Viajes charges a service fee per passenger for processing cancellation requests. Our agent will advise you of the exact fee before confirming the cancellation.
• Fees are non-refundable once the cancellation has been processed with the airline.

6. Airline-Initiated Cancellations

If an airline cancels your flight or makes a significant schedule change (typically a departure or arrival shift of more than 2–3 hours):

• You may be entitled to a full refund of all collected fares, taxes, and fees from the airline.
• You may also have the option to rebook on an alternative flight at no additional cost.
• Please call us at (855) 762-3684 as soon as you are notified of an airline cancellation, and we will assist you with rebooking or refund processing.
• Under U.S. DOT rules, airlines must provide refunds (not just credits) for airline-cancelled flights if the passenger requests one.

7. No-Show Policy

If you fail to check in for your flight without prior cancellation:

• Most airlines will mark your ticket as a "no-show" and cancel any remaining segments of your journey (including return flights).
• No-show tickets are typically non-refundable and may not be eligible for rebooking or credit.
• If you believe you may miss your flight, please contact us immediately at (855) 762-3684 so we can explore your options before departure.

8. Partial Refunds

Partial refunds may be applicable in the following scenarios:

• Cancellation of one leg of a round-trip or multi-city itinerary (subject to fare rules — this may affect the pricing of remaining segments).
• Seat upgrade fees where the upgraded seat was not provided due to operational issues (e.g., aircraft downgrade).
• Ancillary services (such as baggage fees) that were prepaid but not utilized due to airline error.

9. Refund Processing Timeline

Once a refund is approved by the airline:

• Credit/Debit Card Refunds: Typically 7–20 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer.
• Travel Credits/Vouchers: Issued by the airline and delivered to you via email, typically within 5–10 business days.
• Meta Extra Viajes does not control airline refund timelines and cannot expedite them.
• If you do not receive your refund within 30 days, please contact us and we will follow up with the airline on your behalf.

10. How to Request a Refund

To request a cancellation or refund, please follow these steps:

• Step 2: Provide your booking reference number, passenger names, and the reason for cancellation.
• Step 3: Our consultant will review your fare rules and advise you of any applicable fees and expected refund amounts.
• Step 4: Confirm the cancellation. We will process the request with the airline and provide you with a cancellation confirmation.
• Step 5: Receive your refund or travel credit per the timeline above.

11. Agency Service Fee — Refundability

Meta Extra Viajes charges a service fee for booking, modifying, and cancelling reservations. Please note:

• Service fees are non-refundable once services have been rendered (i.e., once a booking has been confirmed or a change/cancellation has been processed).
• The service fee is separate from any airline-issued refund and will not be included in the refund amount returned to your payment method.
